 A Few Facts About Cockroaches

  • Cockroaches are an invasive species of insect that live in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor environments. They are social insects and usually live together in large groups. Most species are winged, but not all are capable of flying. Their six legs are covered in spines and are sensitive to touch.
  • Inside buildings, cockroaches are found living and nesting in a variety of different locations including above ceilings, in attics, inside crawlspaces, behind large electrical appliances, near pipes and faucets, and in basements, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens.
  • Cockroaches are scavengers and feed on a variety of food and non-food (toothpaste, paper, glue) items. These insects are dangerous pests, as they carry a large number of viruses, bacteria, and parasites on their bodies, legs, and in their feces. In addition, their shed skins and excrement can trigger allergic reactions and asthma attacks in people, especially children.

To prevent problems with roaches in your Humble/Kingwood/Atascocita/Eagle Springs/Summerwood business, it is important for us to inspect your building’s exterior on an annual basis.

A few areas to review are spaces in its foundation, weather stripping around windows and doors, make sure door sweeps are not damaged and installed properly, inspect for leaky pipes and fixtures, ensure food is stored inside air-tight containers or inside the refrigerator, and inspect used furniture, appliances, and all packages for cockroaches before bringing them into your business.

Exclusion: Prevention of from re-infestation entering the building is an important part of overall a cockroach program. Unlike flies cockroaches can infest from all areas, gain access and establish secondary and tertiary areas to crawl through and hide. We work identify potential entry points and performing minor and medium exclusion work where needed. This is by far the most important part of a cockroach program when dealing with buildings with adjacent business.

Treatment methods:  Along with implemented sanitation methods, we utilize biological controls to reduce breeding and reproduction. Our Service Specialist also implement IPM (Integrated Pest Management) methods and reduced risk pesticide use to ensure we are achieving and maintaining control monthly.
